Patient Safety Culture Post Covid-19 Pandemic: In Perspective of Millennials Human Capital Issues

Background: Patient safety is the core task of any healthcare business. As medical harm caused by hospitalisation still on rise and patient culture a struggle. We aim to determine nature in private hospital explore some unique human resource problems Malaysia. Methods: In our case study, we use Hospital Survey Safety Culture (HSOPSC) questionnaire measure 12 dimensions culture. The survey received 281 respondents (76% response rate) from all millennial frontline providers, including doctors, nurses allied providers. result was used as basis further this hospital. In-depth interviews, observation document reviews were conducted relation problems. This study IBM SPSS 26 for Windows statistical analysis Atlas ti.8 qualitative open comments. Interpretive Phenomenological Interpretation data after triangulation. Results: overall average positive rate HSOPSC 64%. showed that staff feels positively toward dimension good performance “Manager expectation”, “Management support safety” “Organisational learning”. with poor “Staffing”, “Frequency error reporting”, “Teamwork across units”, “Handoff transitions”. comments indicated inadequate staffing nursing retention issues. Interviews, related reveal high turnover rates among nurses, overtime on-call rates, chaotic units procedures, doctors’ round, admission discharges mainly surgical causing distraction. Poor shared governance biggest challenges need immediate attention post Covid-19 pandemic. Conclusions: measurement gave valuable insights perception satisfactory. “Staffing” suggests an urgent management strategies prevent brain drain due especially nurses. key factors dissatisfaction are lack governance.
